Tuesday morning, bright and early, Wilf and Nico headed out to the mountains again. This week they did the longest hike yet. After the hour's drive to the bridge, they hiked for four hours before reaching the first village. 
Tuesday afternoon they held a service in the first village and they spent the night in the church. Wednesday morning they hiked down a valley flanked on either side by steep canyon walls. The trail crossed the river many times. The guys used whatever was there. Sometimes by jumping from stone to stone, sometimes by suspension bridge and sometimes by wading up to your waist!
At one place, the river had carved out tunnels through the rock, which wonderfully serves as part of the trail.
By midday, they arrived at the next village, where they held an afternoon service. Then they started the long hike home again!
Two of the church workers accompanied Wilf and Nico for the trip. Here they are starting a fire to cook breakfast along the river.We thank the Lord for His work in these Christian's lives and we continue to pray for spiritual maturity and growth in light of many obstacles.

Wow! I was thinking when I looked at the pictures that Wilf must be in his element and having a great time... but then I heard that he was sick. I hope everyone is better over there now! We have the flu here too.
I love that first shot with the clouds or fog.... beautiful. Yes, it is a good thing Wilf is in great shape... I can't imagine those long hikes over rough terrain! I hope you are having a good week, and that you are feeling God's nearness this day!
Who would have thought... all those years of hiking with yp's would actually come in handy! Thank you for keeping us informed of what Wilf is doing, what are you spending your days doing? Are you able to get out into the community at all? I know it isn't the nicest (from previous posts) but are you able to get out?
